Grey’s Anatomy epi 414 - The Becoming

I didn’t like this episode at all. And the ratings aren’t looking too good either. Sad. I don’t even know what to say except that I hate Rose even more. And I am getting uncomfortable with Hahn which is such a shame because I used to like her character. I like where they’re taking Mark’s character. I like it that Christina finally spoke up in this epi. I wish her good things. I didn’t like the ending of this epi. Literally open ended. Liked it better where the voice overs would somehow “close” the epi. This one didn’t. Me not happy.

It is interesting to note though that they initially brought up Mark for just a few episodes but ended up extending his run. Pretty much like Addison’s character before. Hmmm, I wonder if they’re going to like Mark that much to give him his own spin-off.

Now there are talks that Katherine Heigl might be leaving Grey’s. And I don’t like that. Not at all. I hope she doesn’t leave.

People are getting tired of all the will they or won’t they with MerDer. What is this? Friends with Rachel and Ross? It’s getting pretty old. I hope they finally get them together if they are indeed MFEO.

There are just a few episodes left in this season and I do hope they make it worthwhile.

Grey’s Anatomy epi413 - Piece of my Heart

They always use the medical aspect of the show for metaphors on what’s going on in their lives. And though it might not be cryptic as Lost where even the minute details count (as I picked up from listening on the radio and reading about it in the papers), with Grey’s all you do is read between the lines. Dig deeper. And look deep in your heart about what speaks to whom.

WARNING : SPOILERISH CONTENTS, Pls don’t read unless you want to know what happened in this epi

In this episode, I love that Addison is back. And how I miss her so. It’s good that she has her own spin-off and all but she will forever be Addison to most of us. The beyotch who got between MerDer. She with the Catherine Deneuve beauty. The redhead who walks around SGH and still look great when others look exhausted. She who tells it like it is. And she who McDreamy married. That says something. But I digress. Addison was back in this epi because she said: “I just wanted to make sure that it was okay to leave”. We got a chance to see SGH in Addison’s point of view - the Vagina monologues with Hahn and Callie, Bailey’s sadness and the reason for it which she only divulged to Addison, Hahn’s treatment of Christina, the un-couple that is MerDer. And since she didn’t have anything to lose as she was leaving, she called it when she saw it. She told it like it is and went Dr. Phil on Meredith. It’s funny how last week I was neutral on Alex and Izzie as their characters didn’t do much last week. But on this epi, we were able to get a glimpse as to what their characters are going through and the changes that go along with it. Izzie is finally stepping out and finding her voice. She is still the emotional surgeon with excellent bedside manners but she is clearer now. Who knew it would take Ghandi to take her out of the shadows? Alex is one complex character we never got a real grip on. We never fully understand what makes him surly and an a**hole at times and sweet and caring the next. All we know is that there was something in his past that made him what he is. I have a feeling we will find out more about him in the soming epis Bailey, who must keep it together when she’s dying deep inside. All in all, this epi was pretty much like the old Grey’s that we loved. I think the writer’s strike helped in that the producers and the other writers listened to what the viewers are seeing, what they want, what they believe in. And I think they even read those fan fics too and have gotten some ideas. It’ll be interesting what happens next…

My TV Night is Back!

Grey’s is Back! The long awaited epi after the writer’s strike was aired last night. And I had to remind my family that I am back as well. Meaning back to my old schedule of TV night. It started with Ugly Betty at 8 pm where the pathetic Henry proved even more pathetic and the Baby Mama proved to be more annoying. I loved Hida’s protecting her baby sister, Justin’s sassyness and Christina’s accent. While Alexis is growing on me and Renee and Wilhelmina is proving to be the sisters from hell. Too melodramatic and soap opera-ish, if you ask me. Mark had a lot of airtime in this one, not a lot for Amanda. And Gio, the knight in shining armor needs to better get his groove on and start talking!
The commercials were oh so painstakingly plentiful and entertaining at the same time. New movies to watch out for - Hancock with Will Smith, Speed racer with Emile Hirsch and Christina Ricci, Ironman with Robert Downey Jr. etc.
And GA! Oh where do I start? let’s start with what I didn’t like:
Rose, nuff said
Hahn
Callie
Christina-too worshipy of Hahn
what I did like:
George finally admitting he complains too much and vowed not to anymore
Lexie - looking all puppy eyed and delivering her own “pick me, choose me, love me” not in a romantic way though
The Chief - acting all authoritative and delivering advices at the same time, shows heart, compassion and caring
Meredith - finally admitting she has a problem and is taking steps to move forward
Neutral (but I still love them both)
Izzie
Alex
Next Thursday promises to be a promising week as well. Can’t wait!!!

Forever Young

There comes a point in your life when you’re officially an adult. Suddenly, you’re old enough to vote, drink, and engage in other adult activities. Suddenly, people expect you to be repsonsible, serious… a grown up. We get taller, we get older. But do we ever really grow up?

In some ways we grow up. We have families, we get married, divorced, but for the most part, we still have the same problems that we did when we were fifteen. No matter how much we grow taller, grow older, we are still forever stumbling, forever wondering, forever young.

—— Meredith Grey——-

I have always thought that 30 was ancient. I was a teenager then. And I thought that once you get married and have kids, then your life falls into a routine where there are certain expectations for you to meet. Certain obligations, restrictions and responsibilities. And I thought you stop growing and hoping and dreaming.

Boy was I wrong! Now that I am in my 30’s, I don’t feel like I’m any different than I was in my teenage years. True, I know better now and there are certain things that opened my eyes and came to realizations about but I don’t feel any different.

Although my body tells otherwise - the weight that can easily slide off with just a simple diet and exercise now takes harder work, the 20/20 vision now gets eyeglasses for “night driving”, the flawless skin now gets slathered with moisturizers, the Glamour, Allure and beauty/fashion magazines now gets replaced with Better Homes and Gardens, Domino and Family Circle magazines, the perfume I used to love now gets replaced with the smell of sanitizer and baby lotion and the endless parties of drinking now gets replaced with family time and wholesome parties. But deep inside, I am still the same old 15 year old who sings at the top of her lungs in the shower, dances when no one else is watching and tries on models clothes I’m wearing to the next party.

Now I know that life does not stop when you turn a certain age. Life goes on. And you keep learning new things, experiencing new sensations and dreaming dreams you’ve never had back when you were younger. Life goes on. And you are forever young.

GA’s Back!

Omigod! My favorite show is back! Well, not until April 24th but still. It’s going to be back on. And my Thursday nights will not be empty anymore. I will have something to look forward to. Which sounds pretty lame but hey, what can I say? I love GA. I love living vicariously through the characters.

And this is one of those times when I wish I live in L.A. because the GA and Private Practice cast will be performing live for the benefit of the writers affected by the strike. Which makes me love them even more. For they’re not only pretty people on the outside but on the inside as well.

In the meantime, here’s my favorite scene from the last epi. :

Thursday Night

greys-anatomy-season-4-wallpaper.jpg1280x960_ugb_cast.jpg

Last night was my TV night. Thanks to the writer’s strike, I haven’t been this giddy since … gosh I can’t even remember. Both Ugly Betty and Grey’s delivered. This was, by far, the best Ugly Betty episode so far. Amanda was as usual, really good and so was Mark and Wilhelmina and Cristina (loved her clothes and accessories!!!) and Daniel. I don’t like Alexis at all. She doesn’t do anything for me. I don’t even like her as a villain. And my once favorite Henry seems to wander into oblivion as he gets lamer and lamer each episode. But the storyline was good and the tender moments between Betty and Daniel - awesome! It is so refreshing to see a man and a woman in a healthy, platonic relationship. Didn’t like it that Hilda didn’t get much airtime though. LOVE her too!

warning - spoilerish - pls don’t read if you don’t want to know

Grey’s was sooooo good last night. I don’t know if it’s because it’s been a while since the last epi and I’ll take what I can get but last night was really really good! At this point though, I don’t care anymore what happens to Meredith ad Derek. What I care about is Alex and Izzie. Always been rooting for them. And surprise surprise, in this epi, I even like Callie! Love her reaction when she was talking to Mrs. O’Malley and said her “I believe in love”speech. Did I say I love Alex and Izzie! There is definitely something there!!! LOVE Izzie’s speech about faith. And Lexie is so sweet in this epi! I’m curious to see what they have in store for her.

Kind of disappointed that we won’t see Joshua Jackson as of yet. Oh paging Dr. Pacey!!! I hope you still make it to the show!

Grey’s Anatomy - Season 4 epi 1: A Change is Gonna Come

You know how popular your favorite TV show is when the Principal’s opening remarks on back to school night is : “I am going to hurry things up so you can all go home in time for the season premier of Grey’s Anatomy”. Such was the case today for my son G’s school. C’s was yesterday and it didn’t coincide with anything. Private Practice? puhleaze! Although I might give it another chance, if I have the time. Which unfortunately I do not have right now. All I have time for is Ugly Betty and Grey’s. Heck even Oprah herself said she doesn’t watch TV but she watches Grey’s. Yay Grey’s!

Anyways, this episode’s good. Not the best season opener but close. Looks like the old Grey’s from seasons 1-2. And Shonda Rhimes did say we’re going to get the old Grey’s back so fans have high hopes. She also said George and Izzie aren’t the love story of the century, which I am thankful for personally. Although the idea of falling inlove with your BFF isn’t far fetched, being inlove with your married BFF is a different matter altogether. I still think Izzie and Alex should be together. Love the sensitivity though of Izzie and George, maybe it helps that they’re BFFs in real life. Christina, I hope they give her a good storyline. Now that Burke’s gone, it won’t be the same. And with Addison gone too, at least Mark and Derek are rekindling their friendship. Meredith is still the same old Meredith. I just want to smack her in the head when she’s still doubting Derek though. Heck, just one look from McDreamy and I’ll take off and leave whatever it is I’m doing and stop the world right there. I still don’t like Callie but we all know she’s going to be there to stay because she’s good friends with Shonda so hopefully they’ll make her likeable. Dr. Bailey’s still the same - the Nazi’s back! Lexi Grey seems okay, so far. She seems likeable enough. I was prepared to hate her because of that bar scene with Derek but we’ll see. Overall, it was okay. Nothing monumental or earth shattering happened. LOVE Izzie’s lines/dialogue at the end about adjusting your expectations. And the VO in the beginning of the show - about change being inevitable? That’s what I’m going through - change. Isn’t it funny how art imitates life sometimes? I love Grey’s and songs and movies especially when they speak to me.

Ok, so I said I won’t be able to bloghop as much. But I will be blogging a lot about Grey’s. I will find the time. Just as I find the time to hold everything and schedule my life around Thursday nights. I ain’t no GreyMom for nothin’!

In the practice of medicine, change is inevitable.
New surgical techniques are created, procedures are updated, levels of expertise increase.
Innovation is everything, nothing remains the same for long.
We either adapt to change, or we get left behind.
Change we don’t like it, we fear it…but we cant stop it from coming, we either adapt to change or we get left behind.
And it hurts to grow, anybody who tells you it doesn’t is lying.
But here’s the truth, the more things change the more they stay the same.
And sometimes, oh sometimes change is good.
Sometimes change is everything.

Changes in My Life

As seasons change, and so has my life:

I am preparing for something major in my life. Details of which, I cannot divulge. Like we say in the Philippines: “baka maudlot”. I don’t want to jinx it. That’s why I can’t be online as long as I wanted to, unlike before. I’ll miss my bloghopping days. But this is temporary.

FishermanHubs restricted my yard sale shopping. I had to reluctantly agree. We are downsizing so we have to make use of what he have.

I have houseguests coming from back home. They’ll be staying for months.

It’s getting colder. Fall is my most favorite season of all. The temperature’s just right for me. Summer’s too hot and humid, winter’s too cold and spring brings out my allergies. Fall is the showing off time for mother nature, the colors of the leaves in varying shades of orange, red and yellow is something to look forward to every year.

And with Fall comes —– TV season. Yup, Grey’s Anatomy Season 4 starts on Sept. 27 (Thursday). I am psyched. I have Thursdays to look forward to again. I get to see Izzie (who won the Emmy’s for best supporting. yay!), George (although I don’t want them to be together as lovers), Christina, Meredith, McSteamy, Dr. Bailey and McDreamy. My old friends. I’ll be there at Seattle Grace along with them. Call me the GreyMom - the number one GA fan!

Grey’s Anatomy Season 1 epi 8 - Save Me

You know how when you were a little kid and you believed in fairy tales, that fantasy of what your life would be, white dress, prince charming who would carry you away to a castle on a hill. You would lie in bed at night and close your eyes and you had complete and utter faith. Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Prince Charming, they were so close you could taste them, but eventually you grow up, one day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears. Most people turn to the things and people they can trust. But the thing is its hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely cause almost everyone has that smallest bit of hope, of faith, that one day they will open their eyes and it will come true.

At the end of the day faith is a funny thing. It turns up when you don’t really expect it. It’s like one day you realize that the fairy tale may be slightly different than you dreamed. The castle, well, it may not be a castle. And it’s not so important happy ever after, just that its happy right now. See once in a while, once in a blue moon, people will surprise you , and once in a while people may even take your breath away.

Grey’s Season 3

So it turns out I am not alone in my disappointment with this season. A lot of fans expressed concern about where the show is going. Turns out they felt strongly about it that they had to write a letter. And I agree with this article. We watch the show because it is an escape from reality. That in the face of all hardships, adversities and challenges of life or even the monotony of our boring lives we can live vicariously through them. So when things happen and it seems like another failed attempt at a show, people rise up and want their voices heard. I hope the writers and producers listen. Otherwise it will just be another show.

It is all reruns here now in North America and we patiently wait for Season 4 which starts in September. For now we content ourselves with watching reruns. IMHO, I still prefer the 1st and 2nd season. Season 3 didn’t do that much for me but I continued watching. Religously. It’s hard to let go when you have get invested in the characters. So you wait patiently and hope that one day it will come back again. The old Grey’s, the show that sucked me in the 1st and 2nd season. Shonda Rhimes (the producer) promises that Season 4 is going to be good. That it will be the same Grey’s we fell inlove with. But she also said that Addison will not have a spin off.

And now that there will be one less cast member (Isaiah Washington got fired, just in case you didn’t hear it yet), it’s not going to be the same. Granted that he was hard to work with, that he had anger management issues and a homophobic too but Grey’s won’t be the same. I just hope they get to replace him with a new character as ineteresting as Dr. Burke. Personally I don’t like IW either, I liked Dr. Burke. He was a good friend to George (which was ironical because in real life we know how it is) and Izzie and could have been close to McDreamy as well. I just hope McDreamy and McSteamy become best friends again. Izzie and Alex to find each other and be a couple again and McBarwhore (as she’s fondly called in MBs) to go away. I hope Season 4 won’t disappoint.
